Ongoing and upcoming events for August

  • The Alaskan Apple Users Group's regular monthly meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Phillips Petroleum Building, 7th and G Street.   • Fourth Avenue Dinner Theatre May 15 - Sept. 18. The price includes dinner and a show for $12.95 per person. Dinner is served from 5 – 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. The event takes place at the 4th Ave. Theatre, 630 W. 4th Ave.
  • Fourth Avenue Trolley Tours May 15 - Sept. 18, prices range from $9.95 – $29.90 depending upon the type of tour. Tours run 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., pick-up and drop-off are in front of the Fourth Avenue Theatre, 630 W. Fourth Ave.
  • Midweek at the Museum takes place at 7 p.m. and Tuesday night is family night. Wednesday night is “Artist at Work” and Thursday night is KNIK The Breeze night with Melissa Bledsoe-Fisher. These events are at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art.
  • Alaska and Wolves IMAX films are being shown daily until Sept. 15 in the Discovery Theatre at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Call 263-2900 for more information.
  • “Skysong,” a light and sound presentation of the Northern Lights, will run through Sept. 15 in the Discovery Theatre of the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Call 263-2900 for more information.
  • “Furs, Feathers and Fiber,” a demonstration by Native Artisans will run through Sept. 30 at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
  • Alaska State Fair 2001 is being held in Palmer Aug. 24-Sept. 3.

  • ICOAA Coronation XXIX is being held at the Anchorage Hilton in the Howard Rock Ballroom. The theme is "Fulfilling Your Fantasy in King Solomon's Mines." The event is at 6 p.m. and tickets are $39.50.
