The next art show to be
held at the Campus Center Gallery is a Student
Print Invitational that will run from Jan. 11-25
and will hold its opening reception from 5-7 p.m.
on Jan. 11. Printmakers from all over the country
are invited to submit to the invitational.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10
a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The UAA Campus Center
Gallery has a new student manager, Yulia
Kalagaeva. Kalagaeva began as manager after
former manager Nathan Shafer resigned over an art
incident in which he responded to a Got
Jesus sign near the gallery. Shafer painted
signs that reflected out of the gallery that
said, Got Racism, Got
Bigotry, etc. He said he was asked to write
a letter to the editor to appear in the Northern
Light, saying that he apologized for the
incident. He refused and said, I would
rather work at a liquor store than write the
letter.
