NASA accepting proposals for student experiments

NASA’s Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program is accepting proposals from undergraduate teams across the country to fly their experiments on a unique agency airplane. Participation in the program will enable students to learn how scientific research conducted in micro-gravity differs from research conducted on Earth.

Perspectives on Native American History

A panel discussion will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Arts Building, Room 117. The panelists include Jeanne Eder, director of the Alaska Native Studies Program, Chris Friday, chair of the history department at Western Washington University and Elizabeth James, UAA professor of history. The panel moderator is Stephen Haycox, of the UAA history department.

Classes on Elmendorf

The second eight-week session for courses at Elmendorf Air Force Base is available for military and civilian students. The session runs from Oct. 17 through Dec. 14. Call 753-0204 for base access information.

Hispanic heritage event

Celebrate Hispanic heritage with a salsa dance in the Campus Center on Oct. 17. The event will feature poetry readings, dance lessons and performances by dance groups. The price is $5 for UAA students and $7 for non-students.
