Sept. 28

Suspicious window shatter

3:53 a.m. – A University Police Department officer was on patrol at the University Center and observed a campus owned vehicle with two broken windows. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. The officer checked the area but found no suspects.

Sept. 29

The fast make the authority furious

11:09 p.m. – A student reported to the university security office that multiple vehicles had sped through the South Lot and parked at the end. Two officers responded and contacted five individuals near their vehicles. The officers gave verbal warnings for speeding.

Sept. 30

Sick pets need love

4:54 p.m. – University of Alaska Anchorage authorities received a call from a person who was trying to contact a faculty member to tell them of a health emergency regarding their pet. The individual took the pet to an animal hospital to be treated.

Oct. 1

Help UPD help you

1:26 p.m. – A student called and reported that she had left her purse in a classroom in Building K and could not return to the university to retrieve it. An officer responded and brought the item to the lost and found, located in the Eugene Short Building.

Target practice?

10:34 p.m. – A Main Apartment Complex resident advisor called campus officials about a group of males walking through the Willow Lot throwing small objects at parked cars. An officer responded, but was unable to locate anyone in the area.

Oct. 2

Hurt moose knows which way to go

8:41 p.m. – A student R.A. reported an injured moose in the Quad area of MAC. A sergeant and officer checked the area finding the moose had moved into the woods toward Providence Medical Center.

Oct. 3

Setting the hook in the fishtail

1:23 a.m. – While off campus, an officer observed a vehicle fishtail out of control at 36th Ave. and the New Seward Highway. The officer reeled in the driver, who was determined to be driving while intoxicated. The driver was netted and transported to the UPD office for a Breathalyzer. The driver was transported to the magistrate and remanded to the Fourth Ave. correctional facility.

The painstaking miracle of life

7:43 a.m. – The Anchorage Fire Department called and reported that they were responding to a call of a woman having childbirth contractions in West Hall. A UPD officer responded and assisted until AFD arrived and transported the student to the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Oct. 4

Huffing and puffing

12:21 a.m. – A UAA housing front desk monitor called and reported a moose with flattened ears, huffing at students by the bridge and beaver pond. A sergeant and officer responded to the area and conducted a thorough check until the moose departed.

Startling symbols

10:36 p.m. – While securing the terminus in the College of Arts and Sciences building an officer observed a swastika sketched on the wall in pencil. UPD contacted maintenance so the vandalism could be removed.
