Moose chase
4:20 p.m. – A student reported a moose chasing persons
near the bookstore. An officer responded but the moose was
no longer in the area.
Jan. 12
Boom box burglary
5:45 p.m. – A student reported the theft of his
or her stereo during winter break. An officer is investigating.
Estimated loss is $250.
Jan. 13
Criminal mischief in the library
1:16 p.m. – A library staff member reported damage
to interior walls. A delivery driver was seen intentionally
striking a hallway wall while moving a loaded pallet. Officers
responded and are investigating. Estimated damage is $2000.
Monitor the monitors
11:22 p.m. – An officer was contacted by a UAA staff
member who reported the theft of two Dell monitors. There
are no known suspects. Estimated loss is $1100.
Jan. 14
As dumb as a moose
10:26 a.m. – A student reported a bull moose in
the West lot and two men taking pictures within six feet
of the animal. Officers responded and found the moose eating
in a wooded area with no people nearby.
One man’s trash is another
man’s treasure
8:51 p.m. – A student reported the theft of his
bike from the front of the campus bookstore. An officer
responded but upon his arrival, the student decided that
he did not want to file a report, stating that the bike
was old and not worth the bother.
Jan. 15
Suspicious smell…
5:13 p.m. – An East Hall resident advisor reported
the possible smell of marijuana coming from a dormitory
room. Officers responded to investigate and determined the
scent to be marijuana but none was found. The matter was
turned over to Housing.
Jan. 16
Hot wax can burn
6:39 p.m. – A fire alarm went off at the Campus
Center on the second floor. Officers responded along with
the Anchorage Fire Department and determined the cause to
be smoke from the ski waxer. The student manager called
to advise everything was OK.
