Students serving up gourmet grub
Cuddy Center boasts fine dining, reasonable pricing

The kitchen can be a hostile environment. When the pork chops are scorched and the help isn’t moving fast enough, some chefs throw knives and hot potatoes–at their employees. What happens behind closed doors at your favorite restaurant can be heated, stressful and violent; like a boiling pot about to overflow. The culinary business is fast paced and high pressure. Customer satisfaction, food quality and uniformity are paramount to the restaurant business.

Put bad sleeping habits to bed

Having trouble sleeping at night? You aren’t the only one. A recent study by the National Sleep Foundation found that 60 percent of all Americans experience sleep problems.

 

Spring Flurries dance shakes things up

Student Activities decided to try a new spin for this years’ Spring Flurries dance. Instead of piling gifts on the king and queen of the dance, door prizes were awarded. It was a move designed to accommodate the campus’ social scene.

 

Speaking for the sound

Choosing this book for its cover won’t be a disappointment. Just ask the nearly 70 people who crowded into a lecture room to hear the first public reading from, “The Heart of the Sound: An Alaskan Paradise Found and Nearly Lost.” Mary Beth Holleman, who teaches creative writing and women’s studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage, wrote the book.

One-acts a mix of sex, humor and death

In the theatrical world, there is theater and student-directed theater. The theater department presented three student-directed one acts March 13. The performance was called “Death…with a Twist.” Death was certainly on my mind for the first half of the show.
