Odoriferous escapade

7:38 p.m. – After responding to a fire alarm, a resident advisor reported the smell of marijuana in a MAC apartment. An officer responded and confiscated marijuana paraphernalia.

March 1

Lay off my muffins!

2:29 p.m. – A student called stating that another student was harassing the sponsors of a bake sale in the Business Education Building lobby. An officer responded and determined there was no harassment.

March 3

False fragrance

5:27 p.m. – A resident advisor reported the smell of a suspicious odor in a West Hall dorm room. Officers responded to investigate. The smell turned out to be incense.

March 4

Prying into other people’s affairs

12:26 a.m. – A student reported that someone tried to break into the hood of his vehicle, possibly with a crowbar. An officer responded and is investigating. Estimated damage is $500.

Four strikes, you’re out

2:11 a.m. – While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The driver had no proof of insurance and was issued a citation. The officer also determined that the driver was in violation of minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol and an MCA was cited for both violations. The officer cited the passenger for MCA as well. A responsible party was called to the scene to take custody of the vehicle. Driver and passenger were cited and released at the scene.

Cruising criminal

11:45 p.m. – While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle operating with expired registration. The officer gave the driver a verbal warning. While investigating the driver, it was determined that there was an outstanding warrant from Alaska State Troopers and the driver was in violation of driving with a revoked license. The officer arrested the driver who was remanded to the 4th Avenue jail.

March 5

Busted!

1:21 a.m. – A UAA Housing resident called regarding a loud party in a Templewood apartment. Five officers and a sergeant responded to investigate. Officers cited nine MCA violations and one subject was trespassed.

North Hall fisticuffs

1:49 a.m. – APD dispatch received a 911 call from a person on a cell phone who reported a physical fight in front of North Hall involving five or six subjects. The caller was not identified and a call back to the cell phone by UPD met negative results. Officers responded to investigate and were unable to locate a fight or any persons who may have been involved.
