Movies for your mind

Earthquake fun

The Quake Cottage, a live action demonstration of the power of earthquakes, will be on campus Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 outside the Lucy Cuddy Center from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The cottage provides a graphic experience, along with current earthquake preparedness information. This event is part of UAA’s ongoing emergency planning information efforts.

Alaska State Fair

Head out to Palmer for the “Garden Hearty Party” at the Alaska State Fair. Check out the midway, pet the livestock, and peruse the hundreds of booths that line the fair streets. It’s an autumn day to remember at the fair. Tickets are $8 for adults, age 13-59, $5 for seniors and youths and free for children under five. Delmag and JEB will play at 7 p.m. General seating is $13. For more information, visit www.alaskastatefair.org.

First Tap

Matt Lewis Band joins Delmag and Brinton Jones at the Moose’s Tooth last first tap before it moves over to Bear Tooth. They’re going out with a bang. Tickets are $7 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

The H. P. Sullivan American Heart Walk starts at 10 p.m. at the Delaney Park Strip.
