You can run but you can’t hide

6:42 p.m.

While on patrol, an officer observed three juveniles skateboarding near the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. The officer advised them of the university policy and trespassed two of the juveniles when they ran from him.

Arrest me, please

5:16 p.m.

An individual flagged down an officer while he was on patrol. The officer determined that she had been driving a vehicle without a valid operator’s license and arrested her. He issued a summons for her to appear in court and released her on recognizance.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 19

Crazy man takes bus

10:32 a.m.

A staff member reported a man who did not live in East Hall asking how to enter the building. An officer responded and contacted the man at the bus stop on Bragaw Street at Sharon Gagnon Lane. The subject has a history of mental illness but was not causing any problems. He left the area on a city bus.

Purse snatcher on the loose

11:39 a.m.

A staff member reported two student assistants’ purses stolen from Room 218 of the Student Union. An officer responded and is investigating. The estimated loss of each purse was $139 and $5.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 15

Alarming shower lets off steam

12:35 p.m.

A fire alarm was detected in a Main Apartment Complex apartment. The Anchorage Fire Department was notified and responded. UPD officers and a maintenance technician also responded. The cause was determined to be steam from a shower.

Environmentally-friendly Peeping Tom

12:55 a.m.

While on patrol, an officer observed an adult male looking in the doors at the Administration building. The officer contacted the subject, who advised that he was looking for a trashcan. The person departed campus upon request.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 12

Sticks and stones will get those bees

7:51 p.m.

A student reported that four or five juveniles under the age of 10 were throwing rocks and sticks at the beaver in the beaver pond. Officers responded to investigate and determined that the juveniles had been stung and were trying to get back at the bees. The officers advised them to go home, as the bees could not harm them further. The officers were unable to locate the beaver.
